Both green and black tea is extracted from the tea bush "Camellia Sinensis", but from the subspecies the "Qingmao".
The Qingmao tea bush grows larger than the normal Camellia Sinensis plant and is one of the oldest forms of the tea plant.
The variety originates from the area around the city of "Pu'er" in the Chinese province of Yunnan, from which tea has been produced since 1700 years.
Pu erh tea goes through a special maturation process - fermentation - which creates the dark red color and strong earthy taste.
